Yoga can be anything that brings you in connection to your higher self. As a teacher I try to guide my students out of the physical form of yoga and into a place of self-love and acceptance. Many times we allow our yoga practice to be guided by our ego as we try to force our bodies into asanas they may not be ready to for. As a student I learned to step back from what I saw in the mirror and bring my attention to my breath, thoughts, and alignment. This not only made my practice much more enjoyable, but also resulted in tremendous inner growth off the mat. I learned to be okay with where I was in my journey of life and to slow down and enjoy every moment of it.
I have been teaching yoga since 2017, but I have been doing yoga for over 15 years. I wanted to become a yoga teacher because I really appreciated the gift that yoga was in my life and wanted to share that gift with others. I especially enjoy sharing the gift of yoga within the Black community. We are naturally a very spiritual people and I know the practice of yoga can be used to connect and awaken the divinity within us and our community.
