I am a teacher and forever a student. My introduction to yoga was at a Bikram class in 2013. I then attended a hot vinyasa class and was hooked! I liked the dynamic asanas and challenges the vinyasa practice offered. I initially started yoga to reduce stress. Soon after I incorporated the physical practice with my daily workout regime. My favorite type of yoga to practice and instruct is vinyasa, flow, power, etc. where I am connecting breath to movement and being challenged in the process.
I’ve always been aware of the lack of representation of Black men and women in the studios I’ve practiced and visited. This led me to obtain my certification in 2017. I became a yoga instructor to take yoga out of the studio and into the community. Soon after, I created Stretch Life Wellness where I offer yoga pop-ups, workshops, and events. I love to instruct yoga in non-traditional spaces as it allows accessibility and affordability. My motto is “Yoga is not perfect, it’s practice.” My teaching in non-traditional spaces represent this, as well as my love of music. My love of music leads my instruction to curated, themed playlists. My belief is that music creates the ultimate vibe to enhance relatability with my students. I continue to teach and provide the space for others to grow due to the positive feedback I receive. My hope is that my instruction is an overall wonderful experience.
